Sugar Cane

This is one of my sugar cane patch nicely tucked out of the way beside the bush. I don't eat the sugar cane as the skin is quite hard. Every now and then, as a treat I chop one up into short strips and give it to Baby and Scarry. They just love it.

As a kid, we had sugar cane in the front yard. It was always a great day when my Mom would chop down some of the canes for us. Of course, she did all the hard work in stripping off the outer hull & cutting it into smaller pieces!! It was a fibery sweet treat on a hot summer day~

I wish I had one of those sugar cane press to extract the juice.
