An ingenius use of cabbage tree leaf

>> Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Hands up those who detest cabbage tree leaves. After a gust of wind, they litter the garden and twine around the shaft of lawn movers and scrub cutters. A real pain !

I got this idea from a lifestyle forum member. She suggested we use it as an edging for garden beds. Little sticks are stuck neatly in intervals and the cabbage leaves dropped in. The little sticks will hold the leaves in place. For the little sticks I gave the rosemary plant a much needed prune and used those and the ones from the hydrangea.

I started this project yesterday and my garden have never looked neater. Now I don't mind picking up those leaves as I have a place to drop them nearby.

I love the look !

The 'trial' garden bed. From afar it looks like it is edged with a ponga trunk
